How to install Windows XP games on Linux

One of my wife's favorite games is spider solitaire from the old Windows XP. I was curious to see if I would be able to install it on my Ubuntu home computer, so I did a google search and I came across an article on e-how.com explaining how to do it.

1- Install wine with the Ubuntu software center.

2- Get a copy of spider.exe or any other game from XP that you want. If you have XP on your computer or in a virtual machine the they are located in C:\WINDOWS\system32

Otherwise I have a copy of spider.exe available for download Here . If you want any of the other games just leave me a comment and I will put it on here too.

3- Once you have it copied on your Linux machine right click on the game and make sure that it is set to open with the wine windows program loader. and your done.

You can change the icon by opening the properties dialog box and clicking on the icon.

Well, well, well. I should have taken a closer look at aisle root solitaire. It's full of other games as well as spider solitaire. All these years and I never noticed.

  1. I lost all windows 7 games after the last update by MS. I have been self isolating along with my husband, because of age. So I need these games bad. Can you please tell me how to get them back on windows 10. It would be much appreciated, thank you!
